We are excited to announce that registration for our District 5 Music Educators Workshop is open! The workshop will taking place on Monday, February 19, 2024 (Presidents' Day) from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Ehrman Crest Elementary/Middle School (Seneca Valley).
We will be welcoming Dr. Stephan Benham as our Keynote Speaker for the event (Music, the Mind, and the Child - Why Your Child’s Mind Matters). Dr. Benham is Professor of Music Education and Chair of Performance at the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University. His areas of expertise include string pedagogy, methods, curriculum, and assessment. His research interests include cultural issues in music education, increasing access to music instruction in underserved populations, and culturally relevant pedagogy, and his work has been featured in numerous international research seminars and conferences.
Following the keynote, attendees can choose from 12 different breakout sessions that track into the elementary general music, strings, band, and choral content areas. The full schedule can be accessed at the following link:
Registration is FREE to all PMEA and PCMEA Members. Non-members are invited and encouraged to attend for a small fee of $15 that will cover the cost of lunch.
Interested participants need to complete the following registration form by Monday, February 12th, to reserve a spot at the workshop!
Please share this information with other music teachers in your school district and encourage them to attend. We hope to continue building on our success from last year!
